Odisha reports 6,647 new Covid cases, 8 Deaths In last 24 Hours

The Covid-19 positive cases in Odisha crossed 4-lakh mark today with as many as 6,647 more persons testing positive for the virus and eight patients succumbing to the disease within the last 24 hours, said a knowledge released by the State Information and PR Department on Saturday.

Today’s surge pushed the State’s Coronavirus positive tally to 4,01,341 while the price surged to 1,981. The active cases within the State stood at 43,304 while 3,56,003 patients have cured or recovered thus far .

While two fatalities were reported from Sundargarh, one death each was reported from Balasore, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Bolangir, Cuttack and Nuapada districts, said the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

Districts that reported over 100 cases are- Puri (395), Kalahandi (361), Jharsuguda (343), Cuttack (336), Bargarh (290), Balangir (234), Nabarangpur (224), Keonjhar (183), Sambalpur (175), Ganjam (161), Angul (141), Jajpur (133), Mayurbhanj (122), Rayagada (116) and Nayagarh (110).

Similarly, Gajapati (96), Koraput (67), Jagatsinghpur (65), Balasore (53), Kendrapada (47), Bhadrak (41), Boudh (39), Deogarh (34), Dhenkanal (34), Kandhamal (26), Malkangiri (17) and Sonepur (2) detected cases below 100 in last 24 hours.

The State has thus far tested a complete of 97,93,470 samples including 43,538 on Friday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 4.03 percent.
